A Man on a Mission

We bless God for the mercy He has shown us and for the grace to continue in His work. Every day is a gift from God and every opportunity to serve Him is a privilege. God is a God of purpose, order, and direction. He does not create any life without a reason.

A man on a mission is a man whom God has entrusted with an assignment. That assignment may be within his family, workplace, community, church, or nation. Wherever God places a man, He expects him to represent His kingdom and fulfil His purpose there.

Everyone on earth has a task to fulfil in the great plan of God. A father has a duty to his family. A mother has a duty to raise godly children. A worker has a duty to show Christ through integrity. A believer has a duty to live for God and make Him known. God is the Master Planner, and He does all things in an organised manner.

Jesus said in John 15:16, “You did not choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit.” This shows us that our mission is not first our own idea. It is God who chooses, appoints, and sends. He knows the beginning and the end of every life. He knows the role that best suits each person.

Many people make plans without seeking the mind of God. They choose a direction because it looks good, sounds good, or is popular. But the end of such a path is often disappointing because it was not directed by God. A life without God’s direction can be busy, yet remain unfulfilled.

Jonah is an example of a man who received a mission from God but chose his own direction. God sent him to Nineveh to preach repentance, but Jonah went in the opposite direction. Jonah 1:1 to 4 teaches us that running from God does not remove His purpose from our lives. It only brings unnecessary delay, struggle, and pain.

The mission given to Jonah was not only for the people of Nineveh. It was also for Jonah himself. Through that assignment, God dealt with his heart, taught him obedience, and revealed His mercy. When we obey the mission of God, other lives are blessed, but our own lives are also transformed.

In Matthew 28:19, Jesus commanded His disciples to go and teach all nations. This command is not for ministers alone. Every believer is called to represent Christ. Some will preach from a pulpit. Some will reach people through business, education, music, writing, service, prayer, and acts of love. The important thing is that we are faithful where God has placed us.

Moses was once a man who saw himself as incapable. He had lived many years away from the place of influence, but God called him to stand before Pharaoh and lead the children of Israel to freedom. Moses became a man remembered throughout generations because he accepted the mission of God. His life changed when he surrendered to God’s purpose.

A man on a mission is not necessarily the loudest man in the room. He is a man who knows that God has called him. He is a man who submits to God’s instruction. He is a man who refuses to live carelessly because he understands that his life carries an assignment.

God has placed many people in strategic areas to reveal Christ. Some are in offices. Some are in schools. Some are in homes. Some are in leadership. Some are in communities where people may never enter a church. God wants His children to shine in every place and draw souls to His kingdom.

Let us examine our lives today. Are we walking in the direction God has given us? Are we fulfilling the assignment He has placed in our hands? Are we willing to obey Him even when the mission is difficult?

May God help us to live purposeful lives. May we not run from His calling. May we be faithful in every assignment He gives us. I pray that we will not fail God in Jesus’ name.

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” — Ephesians 2:10
