“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 NLT
Paul's Example: Working with the Power of God
“We never accepted food from anyone without paying for it. We worked hard day and night so we would not be a burden to any of you.” 2 Thessalonians 3:8 NLT
Paul's statement makes it evident that even with the heavy hand of the Lord upon his life, he still had services to offer society. These services are the kind of jobs that bring glory to the name of the Lord while offering real solutions to the world at large. He demonstrated that he could function both in church activities and outside them. This is evidence that the Holy Spirit is not limited to the church sphere alone but empowers us to make a positive impact in our environments and communities.
Divine Ideas for Everyday Life
“If you want wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” James 1:5 NLT
Believers as the Salt of the Earth
“You are the salt of the earth. But what happens if the salt loses its saltiness? Can you make it salty again? It will be useless, so it will be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” Matthew 5:13 NLT
The salt here does not just affect a portion of the food but transforms the whole. If we are truly salt, we must unleash solutions from within us to problems around. Salt adds flavor to a tasteless world. We must ask ourselves: What solution am I adding to society? Today, many fail to function as children of God, leaving the world bland and unchanged.
Living as Witnesses in Every Sphere:
- Giving us fresh ideas: Genesis 30:36-43 NLT.
- Helping each other: Jude 1:23 NLT.
- Making us carriers of His testimony: Galatians 2:20 NLT
Producing Lasting Fruit that Glorifies God
“You did not choose me, but I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.” John 15:16 NLT
From the beginning of John 15, Jesus speaks of the vine and branches, emphasizing the branches that produce fruit. “He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes to make it even more fruitful.” So much attention goes to the fruitful branch because the fruit brings glory to the Father. The joy of a farmer is a bountiful harvest, showing his effort has paid off. The fruit here represents God's investment in our lives—His Spirit given to us. We cannot enjoy God's grace without returning glory by functioning in the vineyard. By functioning, I do not mean church gatherings alone. We are strategically positioned as believers; we do not move by chance but by purpose. Our lives must give glory to God.
The Scripture calls us to produce lasting fruit—a life that glorifies God amid trials and temptations. We are not trying to be loved by the world but showing forth Christ's light through us. We cannot embrace jobs that do not bring glory to God or hinder preaching the gospel. These are markers of our strategic positioning to produce fruit. The fig tree was strategically positioned, attractive, yet left people hungry—it was cursed. Recollect those you met, who left empty. Many should enjoy Christ through you. We do not live ordinary lives as believers; our lives are rooted in Christ who calls us to fruitfulness.
Let these words stir you into revival today. Let them burn your heart for evangelism. Allow the burden of the Father to ignite within you so your life brings glory to God.
