The greatest limitation of humanity is the acceptance of the weakness of the flesh. Many hide behind this, believing it is impossible to break free from the shackles of its dominance. Countless people suffer from sinful addictions, immorality, and generational bad influences because they have accepted the lie that they must simply live with sin's existence, trapped in the illusion it has created.
Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you live by its dictates, you will die.
But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live.
Romans 8:12-13
Even when we are willing to do the will of God our Father, the flesh hinders us because we have lost control to its lies. Yes, sin is a spirit of falsehood that wants you to believe in its deceptive power.
For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.
John 8:44
We see the direct and real definition of sin as Jesus described its originator with a specific name: LIAR. Out of all the words He could have used, Jesus called him a liar because the devil's purpose is to create a false reality far from the truth and to cultivate a mind that rejects it.
Reasons Satan was called a liar
- He wants you to believe your flesh has the authority to make you fulfill its lustful desires. Galatians 2:20:
When you carefully examine this verse, you notice that two lives are mentioned: the first was the life crucified with Christ, and the other is the new life lived by faith in Jesus Christ. In Paul's statement, we see that the flesh has lost its total dominance.
This makes it certain that it is truly possible to live a life free from sin's control. It also points out that the only power to overcome sin comes through the man who made grace available to us. This is why human strategies to overcome sin cannot work—because the flesh cannot defeat the flesh.
- To prevent anyone from coming to the light of God. Matthew 13:15
The first thing a kidnapper does to a victim is to seize or disconnect any means of communication. The goal is to reduce any chance of help or rescue. This is exactly how sin and its master operate. They create enmity between the victim and the truth so that any attempt at help is repelled. Hatred for church, keeping ungodly company, and finding prayer and fellowship with brethren to be a disturbance—these are all the tricks and effects of sin. But God is powerful, and His ever-sustaining grace is there to liberate anyone who calls on His name. This is why Christ came to destroy the works of Satan.
The devil is a LIAR!" Do not fall for his tricks
The Necessary Step:
For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God's children. Romans 8:16
The Bible says in Amos 3:3, 'Can two walk together unless they agree?' This means it takes two to form a bond. What do we mean by this? We have been discussing the flesh and how it wants to control our lives, but the secret the devil does not want you to know is that you play a major role in its influence over your life.
Let me use this illustration: If there are three subjects—your spirit (the self), the spirit of the flesh, and the Spirit of God—consider your spirit as the WILL or the WHEEL. It is the part of you that decides, the control center that cannot operate alone but is driven by either the Spirit of God or the spirit of the flesh.
This is what the devil doesn't want you to know: you have the power to choose. You can decide today to enter into total agreement with God. That is why the Bible says the Spirit of God agrees with our spirit that we are the children of God. And if we are children of God, then we are no longer slaves but heirs of His kingdom!
Understanding this means you must cling to the power in the name of Jesus for total liberation. I assure you, the sin you battle has been lying to you.
PRAYER
God, I have come to the realization of Your truth, and I commit my life to You totally. Expose the power of sin in me and give me Your authority. I want to live in You. This life I live now that does not please You, I lay it at Your feet today. I rise as a new creation. I deny every power of sin in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
