The instruction in Isaiah 60:1 is absolute. It is a military directive issued from the throne of God. When the Creator speaks, He does not offer options. He offers realities. You cannot arise unless you are currently down. You cannot shine unless you have been immersed in light. The weight of this scripture rests on the fact that the light has already arrived. The provision is finished. The responsibility for the movement belongs to you.
"Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you." (Isaiah 60:1)
The Partnership of Divine Light
God has already provided the light. That is the finished work of the Cross. Many believers mistakenly wait for God to force them into their destiny. That will not happen. God does not override the human will. He calls for active participation. The light is present. It is accessible. The critical failure occurs when we assume that having the light is the same as walking in it. You must intentionally accept the illumination He provides. It is not the will of God that anyone should perish but expects everyone to come to repentance. The light is a representation that the judgement of God would be without mercy as God wouldn’t be guilty if anyone perishes.
"The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is long suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)
The Emergency of Revival
Revival is not for the person who is already awake. It is an emergency directive for the person who is asleep. If you are comfortable, you are not ready for the kind of revival that changes a generation. We need a required level of anger to hunger for God. We are far too comfortable in a world surrounded by fire quenchers and those who specialize in killing potential. We must mimic the cry of the Psalmist who recognized that the joy had been lost and that only God could restore it.
"Turn us back to You, O Lord, and we will be restored; Renew our days as of old," (Lamentations 5:21)
God is absolutely certain that you are capable of revival. He has provided every tool you need to change your trajectory. He expects you to listen to His Son and follow His lead.
"And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!”" (Luke 9:35)
You need the same level of hunger that Jacob had when he wrestled with the angel. Jacob understood that this could be the one and only chance to secure the life he was destined for. He did not accept his status quo. He demanded a change. This is how you must handle the matter of revival. Your relationship with God is the engine of your destiny, and you cannot afford to be passive. You must be willing to fight for the purpose God has placed inside you.
The Mechanics of Willingness
The disciples were in a boat, caught in their own limitations, until they made the choice to willingly receive Him. This is the subtle truth of the entire message. You cannot be reluctant to receive Christ and expect Him to fully function in your life. It must be with your whole heart.
"Then they willingly received Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land where they were going." (John 6:21)
God has already chosen you, but your choice in return completes the process. The authority to be a child of God is given to those who receive Him.
"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:" (John 1:12)
Do not waste your years in a world that wastes destiny. There is a provision for you. There is a place already made ready for you to shine and flourish. The light has come. Your life is a repository of divine potential. The world is a place that consumes the gifts of those who do not know their purpose. Do not let your years vanish in the fog of apathy. God has created a specific place for you to flourish. He has prepared the path. He has provided the light. God is certain that you can be revived. The question is no longer whether the provision exists. The question is whether you will finally choose to stand up.
